Don't Miss This!
Woodstock Fanshawe Singers is excited to announce the 2010 edition of the Kaleid Choral Festival – a Kaleidoscope of Voices. To celebrate our 5th anniversary, we are looking forward to the return of RAJATON – the Finnish a cappella sensation – who thrilled us in both our inaugural and second years! Feel free to check them out at www.rajaton.net or CLICK HERE. .
For three magnificent days, choirs from across Ontario will come together to showcase the offerings of their ensembles. Building on the momentum and format of four previous Kaleid Festivals, Kaleid 2010 will feature guest artists RAJATON and guest clinician Jennifer Moir.
This three day Choral Music Festival will be held May 6-8 in London and Woodstock. It will provide an unparalleled opportunity to hear some of the finest choral talent that Ontario can provide. Each night of the festival is unique and different, highlighting a variety of incredible singing talent and choral music. This ranges from the exuberant joy of our Youth Music Projects to the musical sophistication of our adult choirs, and finally will culminate with the masterful vocal offerings of our world renowned guest artists RAJATON
Guest Artists - Rajaton!
RAJATON is one of the finest and most exciting a cappella groups in the world today. The Finnish word Rajaton translates as "boundless" – and that is exactly the right word to describe their approach to music.
For many of us, our first exposure to RAJATON was at the inaugural Kaleid Choral Festival in 2005, and an even more stunning appearance at the second Kaleid Festival one year later. Most of us had never before heard the human voice so beautifully presented. We were profoundly touched as we experienced the beauty of their music, their passion for singing, and their reverence for the magnificence of the human voice. They truly made hundreds of new friends as they shared their infectious enthusiasm, their love for music, and their charming personalities in the associated workshops.
They are accompanied by no instruments, but they do more than merely sing. They employ their voices to provide a sometimes rhythmic and sometimes ethereal and haunting atmosphere to support their beautifully harmonic and complex singing. We were absolutely astonished by the way in which their superb blend of sound was able to reach deeply into our very souls. We departed the festival with a heightened sense of elation and euphoria, but were also infused with a certain peace and serenity and a feeling that somehow, for a fleeting moment in time, we had joined together in community, bonded by our music and our friendship.
