THE WOODSTOCK FANSHAWE SINGERS
The Woodstock Fanshawe Singers choir was formed in the fall of 1984, by Darryl Edwards, with the intent of augmenting Woodstock's existing fine choral tradition. Today, this fine chamber choir continues to perform a variety of challenging choral music. Other talented conductors have included Bill Brown, Janet Brenneman, and Vicki St. Pierre.

ARTISTIC DIRECTOR - JENNIFER MOIR

Jennifer Moir Jennifer Moir's interest lies in exploring new means of expression through choral art. Endeavouring to promote the works of living Canadian composers, Ms. Moir has instigated a composer residency program for Les Choristes, a women's choir at The University of Western Ontario where she is professor of voice and choirs. This exciting initiative has also been embraced by The Woodstock Fanshawe Singers. Ms. Moir created eleven eleven Productions, (2001) whose debut recording and video project entitled, The World Awaits, featured the work of Project Sing.

ACCOMPANIST - JANET ROBB

Janet Robb Janet Robb, who first trained with Joy Lippert and Marie Thomson in Woodstock, receiving both her Solo Performer's and Teacher's A.R.C.T. Diplomas, later studied with Gwen Beamish at the University of Western Ontario. She has accompanied choirs, vocalists, and instrumentalists throughout Southwestern Ontario. She teaches piano from her studio in Innerkip as a member of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers' Association. This is her eighth season with the Woodstock Fanshawe Singers.

COMPOSER IN RESIDENCE - JEFF SMALLMAN

Jeff Smallman Jeff Smallman was declared winner of the Woodstock Fanshawe Singers Choral Composition Competition, with the SATB work "Sentinels of Glory". Mr. Smallman will spend 2004 - 2005 as Composer-in-Residence to the Woodstock Fanshawe Singers.

Jeff has written for a wide variety of ensembles, ranging from solo instruments to full orchestra, covering a range of styles and difficulty levels.

He has received commissions for numerous works, including pieces for concert band, solo flute, clarinet choir, saxophone quartet, and choirs of various sizes. His trumpet sextet, "Fanfare for Prince Henry", was written in celebration of the birth of Prince Henry of Britain, and was accepted by the Princess of Wales in 1984.

His compositions have been performed throughout Canada, and in the United States, Hungary, Holland, Lithuania, Poland, and China.

Two of Jeff's choral works, "Brier" and "Sentinels of Glory", were competition winners in 2004. "Brier", the winner of the ACCC (Association of Canadian Choral Conductors) Associated Publishers Composition Competition, was published by Kelman Hall Publishing in the summer of 2004. Subsequent to these successes, he was admitted to the Canadian League of Composers.
